Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother Phyllis Monaco passed away peacefully Sunday June 24, 2018 at Robert Wood Johnson @ Rahway. She was born in Regalbuto, Italy and moved to Newark in 1950 then Irvington before moving to Colonia in 1955. Phyllis work for Ditta Dress Company in Newark as a seamstress for 3 years then she was a warehouse packer for L’Oreal in Clark for 19 years retiring 1996. She was one of the first parishioner of St. John Vianney RC Church, Colonia. She was a member of Evergreen Senior Citizens Club of Colonia. Phyllis received a reward from Woodbridge Township for her charitable donations of her knitted items to various organizations. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, Nonna, Aunt, friend to many and will be greatly missed. She touched the life of everyone she came in contact with and left a lasting and loving impression. Phyllis was predeceased by her beloved husband Salvatore, her parents Michael and Carmela Contino, her sister Maria Contino, her brother Rosario Contino and baby girl Monaco She is survived by her children Maryann Mudrak and her husband John, Carmela Arendt and her husband Stephen, Carlo Monaco her sister Vera Gioco. “Gram” to Tony and Erin Racanelli, Nicole and Kenny Lawson, Stephen and Kimberly and Alyssa Arendt, Nonna to Shawn, Adrianna, Salvatore, Antonella, and Chiara. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Wednesday June 27 and Thursday June 28 from 5:00PM- 8:00PM at Gosselin Funeral Home 660 New Dover Road, Edison. Funeral Service Friday June 29, 2018 at 8:30AM at the Funeral Home followed by a 9:30AM Funeral Mass at St. John Vianney RC Church, Colonia. Interment to follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in her memory to: St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
