NASHUA- Nicholas Pappas, 90, died peacefully on Wednesday morning, June 27, 2018 at the Courville in Nashua where he received excellent care. Nicholas is the beloved husband of Evangeline (Memos) Pappas. Nicholas was born in Manchester, NH on February 11, 1928 and was the son of the late Lazarus “Louis” and Trigona (Katsiademos) Pappas. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy until he was honorably discharged in 1948. Nicholas was employed by John Hancock Life Insurance as an Insurance Agent and later went on to be employed as a broker for James Beam Distillery as well as Paul Mason Winery, until his retirement. In his free time, Nicholas was a 32nd Degree Mason and a life member and he was also a member of the Manchester Chapter of Ahepa as well as a devoted member of St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church. His “claim to fame” was the fact that he was a crew captain for Alan Shepherd’s Corsair Plane and he was the first Greek American elected to Manchester School Board of Education. He served on the board of directors at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Manchester. Nicholas thoroughly enjoyed politics, especially the NH primaries but he remained always non partisan. Above all, Nicholas loved his family and cherished all time spent with them especially his summers at Rye Beach. In addition to his wife, Evangeline, Nicholas is survived by his son Dr. David Pappas and his wife Elizabeth of Brookfield, CT and his daughter Lynne Daleb of Nashua. He is also survived by his grandson, Specialist Bryan Daleb of Fort Hood, TX, his ‘adopted family’ Michael Kilduff, Eileene Sadkowski and Meghan Sadkowski, a special Goddaughter, Paula Kouletsis of Bedford as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends. Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on MONDAY, July 2nd from 4 until 8 PM at ANCTIL-ROCHETTE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 21 Kinsley Street, Nashua. His Funeral Service will be held on TUESDAY, July 3rd at 11 AM in St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church, 500 W Hollis Street, Nashua. Interment to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Nashua.
