Michael Mike

Michael Mike Gerard Mitchell 2018

Michael “Mike” Gerard Mitchell was born to Doris Marie (Franklin) and Gerard Witley Mitchell on June 4, 1947 in Kirkland, Washington. He graduated from Yamhill-Carlton High School in 1965 and went onto to college at the University of Oregon. It was there that he met the love of his life, Roselyn Royse in a ballroom dancing class. The two were married March 21, 1967. Shortly thereafter, in lieu of being drafted into the Vietnam Conflict, Mike enlisted in the United States Air force. Mike spent most of his tour stationed at Aviano Air force Base in Italy, where he held many fond memories. Upon return to the United States, Mike finished his bachelors degree in economics. Mike owned a successful janitorial business for quite a few years, but spent most of his working years following the fair, home show, and gun show circuits as a pitchman. He met and enjoyed many friends along the way. Mike only retired when he became ill last year. Mike will always be remembered for his love of the outdoors, great sense of humor, how he could recite history making it come alive to the listener, extreme intelligence, projects, sense of wonder, words of wisdom, big smile, warm hugs, but mostly his love for his family. He had a way of making each family member feel individually loved, special, and valued. Mike passed away on the night of June 9, 2018 from heart failure and leukemia. He had just turned 71. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Rose, 3 children, Jessica Reck, Susan Ludecker, and Joseph Mitchell, 10 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his parents, a daughter, Amanda Nash, and a grand daughter, Faith Nash. He will be forever missed and in our hearts.
