Obituary for Mary Winfry Mary Sue Winfry died suddenly on June 7, 2018 at the age of 70. She grew up in Upper Nyack and graduated from Nyack High School. She was born on September 20, 1947 to Peter and Rose Marie Barton. She worked for the Department of Corrections in NYS for over 30 years and retired in 1998 as Steward of Bedford Hills Correctional Facility. During her retirement, she delivered food for Meals on Wheels to many in our community for 16 years. She was predeceased by her son Donald (Dino) since 2001. She is survived by her sister Patricia Kane, brother-in-law Gurran, nephew Gurran Peter, beloved friend BJ Close and many others. She demonstrated willingness to encourage all those she encountered along the way with word and thoughtful deeds as she journeyed through life. Her love of animals led her to adopt several rescue dogs. Her most recent pet Dave will miss her too. Visiting will be held Tuesday, June 12, from 4-7pm at Hannamann Funeral Home, 88 S Broadway, Nyack NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Wednesday at St. Ann’s Church in Nyack. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hudson Valley Humane Society (HVHS), 200 Quaker Road, Pomona, NY 10970.
