Obituary for Martha Hendren (Toombs) Martha Hendren, 80, of Independence, passed away on Friday, June 22, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family and her beloved dog, Harper. Martha was born on February 15, 1938 in St. Joseph, MO. As a young child, she moved with her family to the farm near Ridgeway, MO. She attended high school in Bethany, MO. After graduation, she married Ron Hendren and they moved to Kansas City, eventually settling in Independence where they raised their daughters, Becky and Jo Beth. Martha worked in the Accounting Department at Harmon Electronics, retiring from there in 2000 allowing her to be active in her grandchildren’s lives, attending their sporting and musical events faithfully. Martha was proceeded in death by her husband, Ron, who died in 1992 after over 35 years together. Her parents, Robert and Wilma Toombs, along with her brother, Jack Toombs, and sister, Norma Sue Hendren, also died before her. Martha will be missed by all those who loved and knew her including her daughters, Becky Dudley (Mark), and Jo Beth Herrick, Independence, MO, grandson, Zach Dudley (Jenna), Blue Springs, MO, granddaughters, Stephanie Morris (Casey), Kansas City, MO, Haley Decker (Damon), Grain Valley, MO, Hannah Herrick (Jordan), Independence, MO, four great-grandchildren, Payton Dudley and Reese Dudley, Laney Decker, and Dax Decker, Grain Valley, MO.
