Obituary for Marie A. Alonzo Marie A. Alonzo, a Long-time resident of the City of San Bernardino, passed away on May 28, 2018. Marie was born March 25, 1944 in Rocky Ford, Colorado. Her family moved to San Bernardino 62 years ago when Marie was only 12 years old. She graduated from San Bernardino High School, Class of 62. She married her high school sweetheart Alex Alonzo. They recently celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary. Marie went to work for the County of San Bernardino in 1962. She was the first Hispanic Woman to reach the position all the way to the top as a Director. Marie was Director of Facilities Management, one of the largest departments in the county. She oversaw several hundred employees. Her responsibilities were to oversee all of the construction and maintenance of all the County’s buildings and facilities, including Hospitals and Court Houses. Marie served as a member of the Board of Directors for Arrowhead Credit Union. She served as Chairman of the Board of that organization for several years and was well respected in the credit union industry. Marie served on many civic and industry organizations. She was recognized many times for her work and involvement by many groups including federal, state and local government. Marie enjoyed life to the fullest and was fortunate to travel the world with her beloved husband Alex. She enjoyed time with family, friends and colleagues while always maintaining a spirit of love. She will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband Alex M. Alonzo, and brother Steve Nava, both residents of San Bernardino. Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedral, 2525 N. Arrowhead Ave. San Bernardino, CA.
