Margaret McKenna Basmagy 2018

On June 21, 2018, surrounded by loved ones, Margaret McKenna Basmagy passed away peacefully. She was 88 years old. She was the youngest of four children (siblings Joseph, Francis, and Eileen), born in Brooklyn NY, where she lived and raised her family. In 1988, she moved to Sebastian, Florida to enjoy retirement with her husband Joseph. Together they were avid golfers, enjoyed travel and swinging around the dance floor at every opportunity. She was known for her indomitable Irish spirit, independence, sense of humor and optimism. Margaret “Marge” was a devoted mother to her 6 children. They all gratefully rest in the faith that her spirit has been restored to its eternal brilliance and she is at last reunited with loved ones lost, including her loving husband of 59 years, Joseph. Her legacy continues through her surviving 5 sons and their spouses: Joseph (Jean), James (Barbara), John (Jane), Jeffrey (MaryJude), Jerard (Maryanne) and her daughter Karen along with 19 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. There will be a private memorial with her immediate family. Dementia is a devastating illness that robs a person of their vitality, memories and ultimately, their life. Memorial donations in Margaret’s name may be made to The Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research Foundation www.alzinfo.org
