Kenneth Cornish 1947 2018

Obituary of Kenneth Cornish Troupsburg, NY | Kenneth M. Cornish, 70, of Squab Hollow Road, Troupsburg, NY, passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at the Palliative Care Unit of Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. Ken and his family fought an amazing battle with his illness. Ken was born in the Cornish farmhouse where he still resided on December 18, 1947. He was the son of the late Albert and Elsie Bailey Cornish. Raised in Troupsburg, he was a 1965 graduate of Troupsburg Central School. Following high school, Ken remained on the family farm and on September 5, 1970, he and Shirley A. Sluyter were married in Whitesville, Ken and Shirley operated their farm together and it became known as the K & S Farm. As a second job, Ken was an artificial cattle inseminator, being employed at different times by ABS, Sire Power and Select Sire. He worked at this for over 30 years besides operating the family farm. Surviving Ken are his wife of 47 years, Shirley Cornish at home, his children and their spouses, Robert and Heidi Cornish, Jeremy and Tressa Cornish, Billy and Cassy Cornish and Amy and Dean Hammond, all living in Troupsburg, a dear family friend, Amanda Ballam of Prattsburgh, his grandchildren, Kyle, Kasie, Colin, Colby, Kataya, Summer, Trinity and Xander, his great granddaughter, Aria, his sisters, Marjory (Pete) Burdick of Troupsburg and Donna Lampman of Ulysses, PA, his brothers, Jim (Sharon) Cornish of Troupsburg, Wally (Mim) Cornish of Coudersport, PA and Joe (Linda) Cornish of Rochester, his sisters in law, Sue Cornish, Linda Cornish and Mary (Cecil) Irish and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Elsie Cornish, his grandson, Billy Cornish Jr. and his brothers, Richard Cornish, Stanley Cornish and Martin Cornish. A memorial service will be held at the Troupsburg United Methodist Church on Sunday, July 1, 2018 at 1 pm with Pastor Erick Potter officiating. Friends are welcome to visit the family at the church prior to the service from 12 to 1 pm. A luncheon will immediately follow the service at the Troupsburg Fire Station. The family requests that memorial donations be directed to the Palliative Care Program, University of Rochester Medical Center, 601 Elmwood Ave. Box 687, Rochester, NY 14642.
