Kathleen M. “Kay” Sherwin, age 88, of Lancaster, passed away on Monday, June 4, 2018, at Morningside Assisted Living in Lancaster. She was born on April 24, 1930, in Potosi, the daughter of Ora E. and Celeste (McLaughlin) Irish. Kathleen attended Willow Creek Country School and Lancaster High School. After her parent’s death, she moved to Beloit with her aunt where she worked at the shoe factory and took evening classes. After their marriage, she raised four children. Once they were grown, Kathleen returned to the workforce. She enjoyed her flower gardens, wintering in Arizona, and social gatherings. Kay was a proud and dedicated lifetime member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary and a member of St. Clement Catholic Church. Survivors include her children: Joe (Margie) Sherwin; Diane Morgan; Carol Sherwin; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; her son, Jim; a son-in-law, Dennis Morgan; and her siblings: Victor, Basil, Cletus, Greg, and Burdette Irish, and Charlene Burr-O’Malley. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 8, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Father Herbert Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in St. Clement Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends may call on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.
