Karsyn Suzanne Jernigan, of Albemarle, passed away Monday, June 25, 2018 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. Karsyn was born March 23, 2018 to Britt and Dana Coley Jernigan. She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Joe Coley, Clarence and Nanolyne Barrier, George Smart, Kate Dement, and Don Jernigan. Karsyn was known in the hospital as “Queen Karsyn”. She enjoyed many things during her stay such as, snuggling with mommy and daddy, getting her hair washed, tummy time, paci-dips, and her daily massage. Karsyn also loved when her parents would sing and read to her as she smiled back at them. A funeral service will be on Saturday, June, 30, 2018, at 10:00 am, at Bethel United Methodist Church, 44118 Highway 740, New London, officiated by Rev. Chris Burcham. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In addition to her parents, Karsyn leaves behind her brother, Kobe Jernigan; grandparents, Susan and Richard Russell, Danny and Kathy Coley, Darrell and Jackie Jernigan; great-grandmothers, Clarene Coley and Cora Lee Crisco; uncles, Justin and Meghan Coley, Payton and Megan Jernigan; aunt, Bonnie and Terry Sells; cousins, Tucker Coley, Lanie Sells, and Gavin Sells. In lieu of flowers, memorials are to be made to Levine Children’s Hospital, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in memory of Karsyn Jernigan, P. O. Box 32861 Charlotte, NC. 28232 or The National Down Syndrome Congress, 30 Mansell Court, Suite 108, Roswell, GA. 30076. Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Jernigan family.
