John W Barnes July 1 1935 June 5 2018 (age 82)

John “Gus” Barnes, age 82, of Miamisburg, passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2018. He was born July 1, 1935 to the late Walter & Verda (Rue) Barnes in North Star, Ohio. He is preceded in death by his daughter Bonni Thiede; siblings Jr, Dave and Doris. He will be missed and remembered by his children Joseph (Barbara) Barnes and Tammy Barnes; 6 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and siblings Margie, Kathleen, Mabel and Verda. John served his country proudly in the United States Navy in the Korean War and retired from General Motors Inland Plant. He was an avid member of the Buckeye Horse Pulling Association, active member Miamisburg Masonic Lodge, past member of the American Legion in Miamisburg and West Milton Eagles. The family will receive friends from 10 AM-12 PM on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Hale-Sarver Family Funeral Home, 284 N. Miami St, West Milton with a graveside service to follow in Brock Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice or Hospice of Dayton. Online memories of John may be left for the family at www.hale-sarver.com.
