John R. Cronin in Waltham, of Winthrop formerly of East Boston, passed away peacefully on Saturday June 23rd. Beloved husband of the late Carol Ann Cronin (Luti). Devoted father of Christopher of Brighton, Daniel and wife Sarah of Franklin, Justin and wife Renee of Londonderry, New Hampshire, and the late David M. Cronin. Dear brother of the late Dorothy Cronin. Cherished grandfather of Abby, Jack, Liam, Rhys and Colin. Also survived by his many loving nieces and nephews. Family and friends will honor John by gathering in the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga Street, (Orient Heights) East Boston on Tuesday June 26th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and again on Wednesday morning at 8:30 am before leaving in procession to St. John the Evangelist Church, 320 Winthrop Street in Winthrop for a funeral mass in celebration of John’s life at 10:00 am. Services will conclude with John being laid to rest with his loving wife Carol Ann and son David, in the Winthrop Cemetery, Cross Street in Winthrop. In honor of John, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Jimmy Fund Tribute Program, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445. John served his country with honor in the US Air Force. He was a past employee of the Boston Herald for over 35 years, and a member of the Special Library Association. He will be missed by many.
