JOHN H. “JACKIE” CLARK JR. John Harold “Jackie” Clark, 87, of Quincy, passed away at 10:04 p.m. Friday (June 15, 2018) in his home surrounded by his family. Born August 22, 1930 in LaSalle, Illinois, John was the son of John Harold and Mary Jezierny Clark Sr.. He married Esther Long on April 2, 1953 in Grand Ridge, Illinois. She survives. Jackie attended school in LaSalle and Ottawa, Illinois, graduating in 1948. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and was proud of the big Musky that he caught. He also enjoyed bowling, was a huge Cubs fan and loved to live and laugh with his family and friends. He took great pride in his family, house, cabins and his farm. Jackie was a wonderful husband, a great dad and grandpa who enjoyed teaching his family how to live life and laugh. His favorite sayings were “It’s a keeper,” “It’s a jumpable curb” and “Stay with the vehicle.” Jackie began farming west of Grand Ridge, Illinois and had raised short horn cattle. He was presently managing his farm in the Lima Lake Drainage District near Meyer, Illinois. Survivors include his wife, Esther; one son, John Harold Clark III (Karen Williams) of Quincy; a daughter, Melanie Beth Clark (Michael Hoad) of Plano, TX; two grandchildren, Eva Jo Marie Clark and Mary Beth Clark, both of Kirksville, MO; and one niece and one nephew. Jackie was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Darlene Hartrich. Graveside services with Military Honors by the Illinois National Guard Funeral Honors Detail will be held Tuesday morning at 11:15 at Quincy Memorial Park with Pastor Terry Henry officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday morning from 10:00 until 11:00 at the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Illinois Veterans Home Activity Fund.
