Jacqueline S. Cleaver, Jacque, passed away on June 17, 2018 at the age of 91. She started life on February 3, 1927 in Massapequa, Long Island, NY. She was the youngest of seven children in the family of Katharine K. Smith and Warren S. Smith. Her immediate family has predeceased her, except for her oldest sister, Esther Nichols. She attended Earlham College, Richmond, Indiana where she met her husband, H. Kent Cleaver, who predeceased her on April 2, 2005. They had three children; Nancy Cleaver (James Bilderback); Diane Garron (William); and Brian Cleaver. Diane and Bill have two children: Matthew Garron (Dana) and Timothy Garron (Kristen). There are four great grandchildren: Grace, Emily, Sadie and Abigail. Jacque moved to Medford Lakes in 1954 and raised her family in the log cabin where she lived her whole adult life. She worked as a physical education teacher at Medford Lakes Elementary School from 1968 until her retirement in 1992. She was a girls softball coach for many years as her children grew up. Her favorite hobby in her later years was her monthly bridge club. Practicing her faith as a member of Medford Meeting was an important part of her entire adult life. A Memorial Service will be held at Medford Friends Meeting, 14 Union Street, Medford, NJ on Friday, June 29, 2018 from 3 to 4 PM. Refreshments will follow from 4 to 5 PM. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Medford Lakes Police Officer Association/Senior Citizen Program, 1 Cabin Circle, Medford Lakes, NJ 08055. Attn: Tamie.
