Obituary of George Chapus George E. Chapus Canandaigua, NY George E. Chapus, 71, of 6080 N. Bloomfield Rd. passed away at home on Saturday (June 9, 2018). Born February 19, 1947 in Nevada, MO he was the son of Joseph and Ethel Halcomb Chapus, Sr. George was a 1965 graduate of Olean High School and had lived in Canandaigua for most of his adult life. He had been employed as a heat and frost applicator for Insulators Local 26 in Rochester, having traveled extensively for his work. He was a car buff since his youth, and enjoyed driving sports cars and restoring vintage cars. He also loved bass fishing on Canandaigua Lake and motorcycling. Surviving are a daughter Kim Johnsen of Houston, TX; a granddaughter Jennifer Johnsen of Houston, TX; 2 brothers Joseph A. Chapus, Jr. and Mark R. (Connie) Chapus, both of Olean; a sister Barbara J. (John) Lentz of Olean and several nieces and nephews. A private graveside service will be held Thursday (June 14, 2018) at St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean.
