Frederick A. Stemming, Jr., 82, of South Brunswick passed away June 23, 2018 at his home. Born in Plainfield, he was raised in Edison and eventually settled in Cranbury. Fred served in The United States Air Force where he was stationed in Myrtle Beach, S.C. After honorably serving his country, Fred completed the police academy. He retired after 25 years of service as a Patrolman with the New Brunswick Police Department. During his career, he was awarded countless meritorious service awards and commendations. Fred also trained as a gemologist, a hobby that flourished into a small business he ran for many years. Fred was a long time member of the South Brunswick Township Zoning Board. He also served as the township county committeeman where he represented the voice of South Brunswick at Middle County functions. Fred was proud of his police, military and community service. Fred enjoyed salt water fishing, charter fishing trips, antiquing, and spending a day on the beach at Sandy Hook. He was most fond of spending time with his family. A loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and uncle. he will be missed by all who knew him. Predeceased by his first wife, Helen and his brother, Robert, He is survived by his wife, Linda Kravchenok Stemming, daughter, Valerie Gruenke, son, Frederick M., his brother, Richard and his wife Norma, as well as many extended family and close friends.
