Frank Odor October 30 1925 June 20 2018 (age 92)

Rev. Frank Odor, 92, of Elyria, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday June 20, 2018 at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center in Elyria. He was born October 30, 1925 in Lorain and was a 1944 graduate of LaGrange High School. He was a veteran of The US Army and served from 1944-1946 in the 32nd Division Infantry in the Philippines. He reached the rank of Staff Sergeant and received a Purple Heart. He had a bachelor’s degree from Houghton College in Houghton, New York and a Masters of Theology degree from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in Chicago and he served in the pastoral ministry for over 50 years. He was the founding pastor of Midview Baptist Church in North Eaton and served as pastor there from 1955-1965. While living in North Eaton, he also taught 6th grade for three years at Eaton Elementary School from 1956-1958. He then started a new baptist church in Vienna, OH where he served as the pastor from 1965-1973 and then again from 1981-1992. He also pastored Bible Baptist Church in Newark, OH from 1973-1981 and led that congregation through an extensive building program. Pastor Odor then returned to Midview Baptist Church where he served as associate pastor from 1996-2004. He was always involved in the ministry of Camp Patmos on Kelley’s Island and served as the weekly chapel speaker many times. He also served on the executive committee of Baptist Missionary Builders. Pastor Odor was a great example to all those who knew him in the way that he served Jesus Christ and others. He enjoyed traveling and in 1993 he and his wife travelled to the Ukraine, in Russia with the Campus Crusade ministry, where they had an opportunity to educate children in the public schools about Christian morals and in 1975 they hosted a trip and tour of the holy land and Egypt. Pastor Odor also enjoyed writing, hunting, playing ball, and going to bible conferences. Pastor Frank Odor is survived by; his beloved wife and partner in ministry of nearly 70 years, Marjorie (nee Carpenter); two sons, Ronald Odor (Joyce) of Westerville, OH and Dr. Richard Odor of Pataskala, OH; three grandchildren, Erin (Ben), Ryan and Emily Joy; and by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by; his parents, Louis Odor and Elizabeth (nee Bendezy) Odor; two sisters, Ethel Kannenberg and Beth Odor; and by two brothers, Louis and George Odor. The family will receive friends on Friday June 22, 2018 from 5 to 7pm at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Rd., (at Stoney Ridge Rd.), North Ridgeville. The funeral service will be Saturday June 23, 2018 at 11:30am at Midview Baptist Church, 36710 Royalton Rd., North Eaton, where the family will receive friends one-hour prior to the service. Pastor Tim Mayo will officiate the service. Burial will be at LaGrange Cemetery in Lagrange. Memorial contributions are suggested to Midview Baptist Church. The family would like to say a special thank you to all of the kind doctors, nurses, and staff members at UH Elyria Medical Center, Life Care in Elyria and O’Neill Healthcare in North Ridgeville.
