Fern E. Madenford, 91, formerly of Muhlenberg Township, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 9:40 pm in Berks Heim. She was the wife of the late Robert H. Madenford who passed away September 19, 2009. Born in Reading, Mrs. Madenford was the daughter of the late Howard F. and Lillie V. (Morgan) Dautrich. She was a graduate of Muhlenberg High School and was a member of Alsace Lutheran Church. Mrs. Madenford was a library clerk at Muhlenberg School District for 14 years retiring in 1985. She is survived by her grandchildren Andrew T. LeClair, husband of Tara C. LeClair of Reading; John J. LeClair of Lancaster and Amanda G. LeClair, fiancé of Bradley A. Adams of Reading and her great grandchildren Andrew Carter LeClair and Cameron James LeClair. She is also survived by her sister Dorothy L. Kerns a resident of Berks Heim. Mrs. Madenford was preceded in death by her son Gary R. Madenford, July 18, 1984 and her daughter Gale F. LeClair, April 27, 2018. Fern was such a kind and understanding person. She was also quite the jokester that left those around her giggling in amazement of her personality. She loved to sing hymns at church service and recently developed a new nick name of Fern-Dove. Butterflies were her favorite creatures to watch and she treasured her collection of anything representing them that grew over the years. Fern will always hold a special place in our hearts. Funeral Service will be held in Bean Funeral Home, North 16th & Rockland Streets, Hampden Heights Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at 11:00 am. Reverend Richard A. Nelson will officiate. Interment will follow in Alsace Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends in Bean Funeral Home Wednesday 10:00-11:00 am. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Alsace Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 2201 Kutztown Road, Reading, PA 19605 in memory of Mrs. Fern E. Madenford.
