Obituary for Faith Ethel Newell Faith Ethel Newell 1941 – 2018 Faith Ethel Newell, age 77, passed away June 12th, 2018 in Murray, UT. Faith was born November 7th, 1941 in San Francisco, CA to Clyde and Claudia Horstman. She spent her childhood in San Francisco and San Mateo County, CA where she became the first woman in her family to graduate high School, an accomplishment she was always very proud of. Faith married James W. Newell in 1966, together they had two daughters, Nancy and Shirley. The couple later divorced. Faith was a homemaker and enjoyed being in the service of those she loved. She also spent time as a volunteer at the Bethel Baptist Church and was a devout Christian throughout her life. Whether it was through sweet, handwritten notes or by a reassuring hug, Faith always knew how to help lighten other’s burdens. She had an amazing ability to stay positive, even when she felt discouraged. Faith loved to read and found wonder in the written word. She was a self-described “foodie” and could make even the most basic meal seem gourmet. Faith loved the Lord and worshipped him in all of her daily actions. Faith suffered from many physical ailments, but her spirit always remained strong and she always found reasons to smile. She spent the last years of her life at the Avenues Courtyard Facility in Salt Lake City where she made many wonderful friends. Faith was caring, funny, and faithful and she will be greatly missed. Faith is survived by her daughters: Nancy Crisp, and Shirley Blanchard; Four grandchildren; sister: Valerie Morgan; and her dear friends: Liz and Gene. Faith is preceded in death by her parents and her sister Sylvia. Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, June 12th, 2018 at 1:00 pm at the Mount Olivet Cemetery in Salt Lake City, UT.
