Obituary for Emma E Santos Emma (Vicario) Santos passed away suddenly but peacefully on June 15th after complications from an acute illness. Born in Providence, RI on March 31, 1922 to the late Josephine and Antonio Vicario, she was one of eight children. Her brother, Mario Vicario of Providence RI is her only surviving sibling. Emma was married for more than 70 years to the late William (Bill) Santos and is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Santos Burns (Jim); granddaughter, Brooke Burns Mahady (Joe); and 2 great-grandchildren (Hudson and Maxwell) as well and numerous nieces and nephews. Emma was employed by General Electric in Providence before retiring to West Palm Beach, FL in 1980 and then to Kings Isle in Port St. Lucie in 1995 where she enjoyed the companionship of many friends and was a regular attendee at Thursday night Bingo. Her favorite pastime was cooking authentic Italian dishes for family and friends and was acknowledged as an outstanding cook. The family wants to acknowledge her personal aide, Christina Timmons, who provided Emma with outstanding personal care and attention for more than 3 yrs. A Memorial Mass will be held Wednesday, June 27th at 10am at Saint Bernadette Catholic Church, 350 NW California Blvd, Port St. Lucie. Immediately following the Mass, a gathering of family and friends will be held at Watercrest Senior Living, 279 NW California Boulevard, Port St Lucie where she recently enjoyed new friendships and a renewed spirit. Emma will join her late husband Bill at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Treasure Coast Hospice, 5090 Dunn Road, Fort Pierce, FL 34981, who made her final moments restful and peaceful.
