Rev. Dr. Emery Wilbur Hacket, 90, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2018. Emery was born in Emporium, PA to the late Lester Hacket and Floy Bierly Hacket . He went on to serve his country in the US Army and retiring from the US Air Force with a total of 21 years of service. After service, he attended Southeastern Seminary where he received his Doctorate in Divinity. He was a retired pastor of Watkins Chapel Baptist Church. Funeral service 11:00 am, Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Watkins Chapel Baptist Church, 5897 NC 231, Middle, NC 27557 with full military honors. The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 am in the church sanctuary. Rev. Dr. Hacket requested to be cremated and buried at Watkins Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery at a later date. Surviving: wife, Margaret Honeycutt Hinton Hacket; step-sons: Calvin Barbour (Bonnie) of Selma, Eddie Hinton (Jill) of Zebulon, Bill Hinton (Maureen) of Jackson, NJ, Freddie Hinton (Martha) of Raleigh; 21 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Emery was preceded in death by his wives, Takeko Hacket and Margaret Barbour Hacket. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Watkins Chapel Baptist Church.
