Mr. Dwight “Doug” Douglas Harkins Sr. was born on March 12, 1955 in Saint Louis, Missouri, to Delorice Harkins Anderson and Richard Ford. Dwight grew up in the Kansas City area and attended schools in the Kansas City school district. Dwight accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Pleasant Green Baptist Church, Kansas City, Kansas, where he served many years in the bus ministry, and he sang in the choir as well. Dwight’s employment included driving a cab and as a security officer. His main passion was as a photographer where he took pictures of wedding celebrations and other social events. Dwight was preceded in death by his grandmother Lillie Mae Harkins, three brothers: Edward T. Harkins, Mark A. Harkins, and Bradford L. Harkins, and one sister, Victoria Anderson. He leaves to treasure his memory three children, Deniseshea Harkins of Milwaukee, WI, Dionne Harkins and Dwight Harkins, both of Kansas City, KS; seven grandchildren: Ronald, Tieyon, Bruce, Brandon, Amari, Rikaiya, and Richard JR; mother, Delorice Harkins Anderson of Houston, TX; father, Richard Ford of East St. Louis; four sisters: Yolanda Harkins and Sherrie Heggie (Anthony), both of Kansas City, KS, Toni Anderson and Sylvia Anderson, both of Houston, TX, and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
