Obituary for Dr. Robert “Bob” Leon Wheeler Dr. Robert “Bob” Leon Wheeler, age 70, of Taylorsville passed away on Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at Duke University Medical Center. Bob was born December 13, 1947, in Boone, NC., to the late Commie Dora Wheeler and the late Ann Danielian Wheeler. He graduated from Watauga High School and received his Doctorates degree in Education from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. Bob coached girls’ basketball at Lenoir High School, was a tennis coach at West Caldwell High School and was an Assistant Principal at Hickory High School and retired from Wilkes Central High School as an assistant principal at the age of 51. He was willing to help and do anything for his family and his cousins. Bob had such a special love for them and others too. He also had a special place in his heart for animals, especially his dog “Cory” who is preceded in death by him. Along with his parents and his dog, he is preceded in death by his brother Richard Commie Wheeler. Those left to cherish his memory are one sister, Janet Rose Wheeler & partner Shawna Bosworth of Bethlehem; two brothers, Daniel Thomas & wife Kye of Bethlehem and Gregory Allen Wheeler of Bethlehem; one niece Ashlea Raine (Wheeler) Whisnant & husband Mark “Alex” and their son Raiden of Jacksonville, FL along with many cousins. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 11, 2018 from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm at Alexander Funeral Service. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 pm at the Blue Ridge Memorial Park 2017 Wilkesboro Blvd NE, Lenoir, NC 28645.
