Doris McAmis Lord, 196 Jenny Lane, Danville, Va., passed away Friday, June 1, 2018. She was 86 years old. Doris was born November 8, 1931 to the late Ruby M. McAmis and George C. McAmis in North Tazewell, Va. She was predeceased by her husband James W. Lord and a daughter, Chrys Lord Tate Verry. She is survived by two sons, Richard B. Lord, Danville, Va. and James D. Lord (Christie) Knoxville, TN; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was a graduate of Brenau… Read More » University, Gainsville, GA with a degree in Elementary Education. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta Social Sorority where she was voted outstanding pledge and was later a member of Delta Kappa Gamma National Teacher Honor Society. Doris was an avid Bridge player. She was a member of North Main Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1 – 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Norris Funeral Services, West End Chapel, 511 Church Ave., Danville, Va., prior to the 2 p.m. service. Interment will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens immediately after the service.
