Donna Mary Carey 1933 2018

Obituary of Donna Carey Carey, Donna M., beloved mother of Leo, Maureen, Maggie and Sheila (Paul Kelly). Preceded in death by her husband, James Denis, by her parents, Gerry and Clara, by her brother Jerry, her son-in-law Michael Richman and her in-laws, James and Ann Lawlor. Survived by her children, her siblings, Maureen Ratliff, Thomas McCarthy and George McCarthy (Ginny) and many nieces and nephews, including Mark Ratliff, Cindy Ambrose and Joan Duckworth. A deeply spiritual woman who held firm to her convictions and did the right thing even when it wasn’t always popular, Donna touched everyone with her grace, compassion and dignity. Donna had a love of opera and classical music, she loved her family and her friends deeply, and she maintained loving relationships over the decades and miles. She will be dearly missed but our precious memories of her will live on with us all. The family will receive friends Friday 5-8pm at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home (Vasu, Rodgers, Connell Chapel), 32515 Woodward Ave. (btw 13-14 Mile), Royal Oak, 248-549-0500. Funeral Mass Saturday 10am at Holy Name Catholic Church-Chapel, 630 Harmon at Woodland, Birmingham. Visitation at church begins 9:30am. Memorial tributes to the Capuchins or Christ Child Society.
