Donald L. Smith, 87, of Fishers, passed away Friday, June 8, 2018 in Fishers, Indiana. Donald was born June 27, 1930 in Sweetser, Indiana the son of the late Fred and Florence (Hudson) Smith. He married Ruth Smith (Harmon) on July 15, 1950 and she survives. Donald was an Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He also worked at Bell Fibre for 42 years until his retirement. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed fishing and playing golf. While playing golf on his parent’s 50th wedding anniversary he got a hole in one. Donald is also survived by daughters, Marcia (George) Pinkerton, Fishers and Jolene McLaughlin, Anderson; brother, Ronald (Mary Ann) Smith, Tecumseh, MI; sister, Bonnie Pinkerton of Marion; brother-in-law, Carlyle Phillips of Sweetser; 5 grandchildren, Andrea Pinkerton, Jacob (Jill) Pinkerton, Erin (Reid) Lacey, Jamie Johnson, and Heath (Christina) McLaughlin, and 9 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Howard Smith, and two sisters, Thelma Phillips and Norma Stout. Friends and Family may call from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday June 13, 2018 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 W. Kem Road, Marion, Indiana. Funeral Service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Reverend Tom Mansbarger officiating. Burial will take place at a later date. Donald’s family would like to thank the staff and nurses at Riverview Hospital for the great care he received.
