Donald Allen “Don” Newton, age 51, of Clayton, Delaware, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 6, 2018. Don was born on June 22, 1966 in Baltimore, Maryland, the son of the late Clarence Irving Newton and Florence Julia (Grimes) Gilmore. He worked for Hillis-Carnes Engineering Associates of Dover, Delaware. Don enjoyed spending time with his beloved dog, Blondie, who passed away just one month ago. He was an avid drawer who had a knack for creating beautiful landscapes and still life art. He was also a skilled draftsman, which was his passion. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his older sister, Joann Lynn (Newton) Carper. He is survived by his life companion, James Rhoades; his sister, Darlene Ellen (Newton) Porter of Dundalk, Maryland; his niece, Darla Miller and her husband Kenneth of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania; two nephews, Jeffrey Dean Porter, Jr. and his wife Heather of Shippenburg, Pennsylvania and Joseph Allen Porter of Dundalk, Maryland; his uncle, Junior Grimes of Patapsco, Maryland; his aunt, Betty (Grimes) Selby of Westminster, Maryland; and numerous cousins and great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his best friend, Gus Gerontakos. Services will be privately held. In lieu of flowers the family is seeking donations to Faries Funeral Home, 29 S.
