Dean Slagle, 52, of Candler, passed away Thursday, June 7, 2018. A native of Asheville, Dean was a son of the late Lewis and Florence Slagle. He was also preceded in death by his brother Fred and sister Charlene. Surviving are his wife, Kathy Messer Slagle; daughters, Hope Slagle and Lee Ann Woody; son, Jesse Slagle; grandchildren, Harper Everdean, Bryen, Kylie and Brandon; and siblings, Dana, Brenda, Darlene, Pam, Lewis, Sheila, Frank, Pat, Gary, Elden and Novella. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with Rev. Charles Shelton officiating. Interment will follow at Edgewood Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service.
