Deacon Cartheu Delphia Madden, known to many as C.D. Madden, was born on June 2, 1927, to the late Reverend Albert Lannie and Missionary Mary Smith Madden. He was one of fifteen children born to the union. C.D. departed this life on May 29, 2018 at the home surrounded by love ones. He was preceded in death by his mother, his father, nine siblings, and four children. His education was very limited due to him having to work in the fields at a very young age. While in Dumas he met and later married, Norvell Hill, and to the union, five children were born. Later in the marriage they relocated to Fresno California. After leaving California, he moved to Chicago and then he decided to move to Kansas City, Missouri where he met and later married his love, Rose Frye. Four children were born to the union and he accepted two as his own. He always said he was the father of eleven children. C.D. worked at Max’s Drive Inn in his early life, where he had the famous story about losing part of his figure in the hamburger grinder. He worked for Kansas City Life Insurance Company as a Janitor but worked his way up to a Supervisor position. He was known to many because of his knowledge of working on houses and cars. C.D. accepted Christ into his life at the Faith Mission Church under the leadership of the late Administrative Assistant Hubert Lambert, Sr., where he served in the as a Deacon and a Trustee Officer. After Pastor Lambert passed, he then joined his cousins’ church, Trinity Temple where the late Bishop W.B. Henderson was his pastor. After Pastor Henderson passed, he later joined Calvary Chapel under the leadership of Pastor Harold Molden, until his health began to fail him. Deacon Cartheu Delphia Madden leaves to mourn, one son, Assistant Pastor Cordey (Ichshiling) Madden; six daughters: Delphia (Charles) Weaver, Joyce Madden, Jackie (Milton) Hicks, First Lady Patricia (Bishop Michael) McIntosh, Kristina Henderson, and Robin (Marvin) Jones; two daughters in-law, Melinda Madden and Mary Madden; one God-daughter, Demetrius Coleman; twenty-nine grandchildren; forty-two great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. Funeral Service for Deacon Cartheu Delphia Madden will be held Saturday, June 9, 11:00 a.m at Calvary Chapel Church of God in Christ, 5101 Bristol Avenue, Kansas City Missouri. 64127 Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Church. Interment, Forest Hill Cemetery.
