Darden R. Beggarly, age 83, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2018 at SOVAH, Danville, Va. He was born May 29, 1935 in Pittsylvania County, Va. to the late Myrtle Brown Beggarly and the late Johnnie Beggarly. Darden was married for 53 years to Patricia Beggarly, who survives. Darden proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 22 years, attaining the rank of E-9/MCMM. After his military retirement, he retired as a Powerhouse Operator for Miller Brewing Co. Darden loved camping, country music, gardening… Read More » and old cars. He attended Central Blvd. Church of God. In addition to his wife, Darden is survived by two daughters, Vickie B. Webster of Gastonia, NC and Diane B. Robinson and husband, Butch of Danville, two sisters, Joyce Perdue and Edith Beggarly, two brothers, David and Barry Beggarly as well as five grandchildren, Christina, Nathan, Christopher, Hayley, and Patrick. In addition to his parents, Darden was predeceased by two sisters, Charlotte Gatewood and Faye Stallings, and a grandchild, Elizabeth. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Norris Funeral Services, Inc., West End Chapel, 511 Church Ave., Danville, VA 24541 with the Rev. John Meadows and Rev. Butch Robinson officiating. Interment will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens, Danville, Va. Military honors will be rendered by American Legion Post 1097. The family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. till 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Norris Funeral Services, Inc., West End Chapel.
