Danny W. Thomas January 18, 1974 – May 5, 2018 Danny Wayne Thomas, 44, of Scranton, died, Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Vidant Medical Center, Greenville. Born in Oneida, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Vernon Edward “Barney” Thomas and Linda Sharp Foster. He was married to the former Deborah Glover who survives. He was member of the Sladesville Missionary Baptist Church. He served as president of the Hyde County Babe Ruth League for over six years, an advocate for Hunters Helping Kids, and received his Associates Degree in Fish and Wildlife Management from Wayne Community College. Danny enjoyed searching for Indian artifacts, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 10, 2018 at the Sladesville Missionary Baptist Church. Pastor Phil Dietz will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In addition to his wife and mother surviving are two sons, Daniel Logan Thomas and Dane Austin Thomas of the home; a sister, Stacy Thomas Baker and husband, Nick of Pinetown; two nephews; two nieces, two great-nephews; one great-niece and several aunts and uncles. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Lee “Eddie” Thomas. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Sladesville Missionary Baptist Church. Memorial contributions can be made to the Sladesville Missionary Baptist Church, c/o Judy Midyette, 1305 Beulah Rd. Scranton, NC 27875 Arrangements are by Bryan Funeral Service, Swan Quarter.
