Clara Maffei 2018

Clara Maffei, 83, of Clifton passed away peacefully on June 23, 2018. Born in Paterson, Mrs. Maffei graduated from Eastside High School in Paterson and then lived in Clifton for most of her life. She had been employed by Bell Telephone and Bergen Brunswick and then as an Office Clerk with Computil, formerly in Clifton, for twenty-one years until their closing. Following that, she was employed with the Clifton Board of Education as Secretary to the Principal until retiring. Mrs. Maffei was a parishioner of St. Philip the Apostle RC Church in Clifton where she was also a member of the PrimeTimers, the Leisure Club and the Widows & Widowers Club where she met her second husband whom she married at St. Philip’s. Mrs. Maffei was predeceased by her first husband, Louis Belfi, in 1982; by her second husband, Anthony F. Maffei, in 2016; and by her son, John Belfi, in 1981. She is survived by her brother, Jack Izzo and his wife Veronica (Ronni), of Frankford, NJ; by her sister, Mary Izzo, of Cedar Grove, formerly of Paterson; by her niece, Jessica Dabrowski and her children: Sierra, Braden and Jordan; and by her stepchildren Vincent Maffei of Montclair and Joanne DeSarno of Bloomfield. Visiting will be Wednesday from 4-8 pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton. Funeral will be Thursday beginning 10:15 am at the funeral home and 11:00 am at St. Philip the Apostle RC Church, 797 Valley Road, Clifton. Private cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org), 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 would be preferred and appreciated.
