Dateline: Marshville, NC Clara Helms Farris, 93, passed away June 9, 2018. Clara was born in Marshville, NC on June 5, 1925 to the late Johnnie Baxter and Ella Mae Traywick Helms. A service to celebrate Clara’s life will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Marshville Presbyterian Church. A visitation will be held immediatley following the service. She will be laid to rest at Marshville City Cemetery. Clara is survived by her son, Richard Farris (Thetus) of Marshville, son-in-law; Walter Carnes of Marshville, brother; Coy Helms (Grovene), grandchildren; Elizabeth Farris of Covington, Ga., Susan Smith (Mike) of Marshville, and great-granddaughter; Kristen Smith. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Lester Farris, daughter’s; Cathy Farris, and Jean Carnes, sister’s; Faye Kiker, Beatrice Deese, brother’s; Carol Helms, Winfred Helms, and Emmett Helms, grandsons; Walter Carnes Jr., and David Lane Carnes. The family wishes to thank Autumn Care Nursing Home of Marshville, Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region, her neice, Caryn Helms, and Cathy Wilson for the amazing attention and care given to Clara.
