He was the son of the late Gilmer and Myrtle Florence Olinger Salyers His siblings were Madeline Bright of Bristol, VA, Betty J. Hensley of Hiltons, VA, Tommy W. Salyers of Dayton, OH, J. W. Salyers of Bristol, VA, Joe L. Salyers of Kingsport, TN, Johnny Lee Salyers of Abingdon, VA and James Salyers of Bristol, VA. The graveside funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Friday, June 29, 2018 in Gardners Chapel Cemetery.
