Obituary of Cesar Groyon Sr. The recitation of the Holy Rosary and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Santa Cruz on Friday and Saturday for Cesar Groyon Sr. who passed away surrounded by his loving family on June 19 at Dominican Hospital, following a lengthy illness. He was born in the Philippines and moved to Santa Cruz 20 years ago, and began a career as a Certified Nursing Assistant for as many years. Working at Dominican Hospital, Pacific Coast Manor and numerous assisted living and convalescent facilities, he will be remembered for his loving and caring concern for his patients and their families. He was a talented singer and accomplished cook. Many fond memories will forever be cherished of the family gatherings and holidays where his traditional Filipino meals, and love for singing were always a treat. One of 8 children, he was a very devoted father and by far the favorite uncle of his many loving nieces and nephews who were the benefactors of countless outings and adventures that he loved to take them on. Mr. Groyon felt blessed to have treasured the times he spent with his 3 grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Crisanta Groyon of Santa Cruz; his son and daughter-in-law Cesar Jr. and Laxmie Groyon of Stockton; his son Cyrus Groyon of Santa Cruz, his three grandchildren: Dylan, Liam, and Stella, and his 7 siblings and their families: Catalina Groyon; Carolina Groyon and Mark Cattani; Emmanuel and Victoria Groyon; Risa Groyon and David Delaney; Marlon and Liezel Groyon; Leah Groyon and Binh Nguyen; Annabeth Groyon; and several nephews and nieces. Friends may pay their respects at a viewing on Friday, July 29th, 2018 at Benito and Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. The rosary will be recited at the chapel Friday evening beginning at 6 p.m. The mass will be celebrated on Saturday June 30th at Holy Cross Church (126 High Street in Santa Cruz) beginning at 10 a.m. Committal services are private. Any kind acts made in his memory can be contributed to a trust fund established for his son’s education. The family is most grateful to the staff of Dominican Hospital and Dr. Amy McMullen for the care they gave Cesar.
