Betty Kaylor died May 28, 2018 in Battle Creek, Michigan. A Battle Creek native, Betty was born in Level Park on March 11, 1930 to Charles Grodavent and Icey Kincaid and lived most of her adult life in the Athens/Fulton area. She graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1948 and was immediately employed by Union Steam Pump for two years, prior to her marriage in 1950 to Willard “John” Kaylor.
Betty led a very active social life with membership in many formal and informal groups, including Fulton Area Lady’s Sewing Club (although she didn’t sew, knit or crochet!), and the Bunco Babes. Betty worked for nearly 30 years at Lifespan, first as a home health aide, and then later as a medical records specialist, retiring at age 80 in 2010.
Betty is fondly remembered for her love of Janet Evanovich books and although far from a gourmet, her chocolate cake with mocha frosting and macaroni and cheese graced many holiday tables and birthday celebrations. Betty enjoyed riding roller coasters, Margarita Mondays, and her dogs Fud and Petey. She travelled extensively both domestically and internationally, taking multiple trips to Southeast Asia including Singapore, Bali and Java Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand. She was a consummate caregiver and an inveterate enabler.
Willard (1927-2007) and Betty raised children, Dr. Jeffery A. Kaylor (1951-2014), Gregory L. Kaylor (Westland, Michigan), Robin J Herney (Ft. Myers Beach, Florida), and Karen L Kaylor (Dr. Daniel Crosswell, Singapore). Grandchildren, Jennifer Paulson and James Emory (Las Vegas, NV) and Adrian Kaylor (Atlanta, GA) and great-grandchildren, James and Megan Paulson miss their Gram,
