Betty Jean McLamb-Hege, 82, of Morehead City, passed away Saturday, June 9, 2018 at the Crystal Coast Hospice House. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Soundview Original Free Will Baptist Church in Newport, officiated by Reverend Robert Langley. A graveside service will follow at 5:00 p.m. at Hannah’s Creek Cemetery in Benson. She is survived by her husband, James C. Hege of the home; daughters, Kimberly Clifton Ashley and husband, Emery, of Smithfield, NC, Lisa Clifton Denning and husband, Kirk, of Smithfield, NC; sisters, Marilla Griffin of Morehead City, NC, Virginia Thompson of Greenville, NC; brothers, Herbert Allen of Garner, NC, Linwood McLamb of Greeneville, TN; grandchildren, Emery D. Ashley, Jr. and wife, Jordan, Sarah Ashley Wheeler and husband, Joseph, William L. Ashley, John B. Ashley, Megan E. Denning, William C. Denning; great-granddaughter, Ellie Ashley; and beloved dog, Charlie. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Sir Milton McLamb and Claudia Johnson McLamb; sister, Emma Lou Parker; and brothers, Sir Milton McLamb, Jr., and Bruce McLamb. Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Soundview Original Free Will Baptist Church in Newport.
