Betty Lou Helms, 86, of Vale, passed away, Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Lincolnton Rehabilitation Center in Lincolnton. Born in Cleveland County on August 27, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Horace B. Davis and Swannie Hull Davis. Betty was retired from Shadowline and was a member of David’s Chapel United Methodist and the United Methodist Women. She is survived by a son, Randy Helms of Vale; daughter, Sherry Murphy of Vale; two granddaughters, Wendy Helms and Heather Murphy Sain; great grandchildren, Allie Sain, Jonathan Sain, and Katie Helms; and special friend, Hugh Randall. The family will receive friends on Monday from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home, Fallston. The funeral service will be held on Monday at 3:00 PM in the Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Cathy Turman officiating. Burial will follow the service in the Rose Hill Memorial Park, Fallston. Memorials may be made to David’s Chapel United Methodist Church, 183 Howard Lingerfelt Rd., Vale, NC 28168 or to the American Heart Association, Memorial Processing Center, PO Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058-5216.
