Beatrice Travis aged 76 was called home on June 16, 2018 at her home in Harrisburg Pennsylvania. She was born on October 14, 1941 in Blacksburg Virginia to Burnest Travis and Naomi Blake. The family relocated to Mount Vernon, New York when she was a young girl. It was there she lived majority of life until 2008, when she relocated to Harrisburg Pennsylvania. Beatrice attended Edison High school in Mount Vernon, New York and later received her General Education Diploma from Monroe College in New Rochelle, New York. It was there that Beatrice also took some college courses. Later, she worked as a library clerk at the Mount Vernon Public Library for 20 years, before retiring in 2006. Beatrice had a fun spirit and enjoyed a good laugh. Beatrice loved listening to music, knitting, crocheting, gardening, painting and cooking one of her favorite dishes that her family loved – chili. Her favorite TV shows were “Law and Order”, as well as “Judge Judy”. However, the most enjoyable times of her life were those moments spent with her family. Beatrice is preceded in death by her parents Burnest Travis and Naomi Blake and her son Michael A. Travis. She is survived by her daughter; Desiree M. Travis of Harrisburg Pennsylvania, her granddaughter; Nicole M. Hudson and grandson in-law; Darnell Hudson of Etters Pennsylvania. Beatrice is also survived by grandson; Terrence A. Travis of Harrisburg Pennsylvania. As well, she will be sorely missed by her four great grandchildren; Jalen A. Hudson, Jevon L. Hudson and Jenee M. Hudson, also of Etters Pennsylvania and a host of family and friends. When we are weary and in need of strength, when we are lost and sick at heart, we remember her. When we have a joy we crave to share when we have decisions that are difficult to make when we have achievements that are based on her we remember her. At the blowing of the wind and in the chill of winter at the opening of the buds and in the rebirth of spring, we remember her. At the blueness of the skies and in the warmth of summer at the rustling of the leaves and in the beauty of autumn, we remember her. At the rising of the sun and at its setting, we remember her As long as we live, she too will live for she is now a part of us, as we remember her.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Beatrice Travis 2018. Hetrick-Bitner Funeral Home, Inc.
