Anni Christmann Batten Word, 81, passed away on June 19, 2018 at Senior Care of Meadow Creek in San Angelo. Graveside services are 2:00 PM Saturday, June 23, 2018 at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Sanderson with Rev. Bob Welch officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home in San Angelo. Mrs. Word was born on January 25, 1937 in Merxheim Germany. She met her first husband William H. Batten who was in the United States Army and came to the United States… Read More » in 1960 with her husband, daughter and mother in tow. She lived in many places throughout the years: North Carolina, Ft. Gordon, Georgia where she gave birth to her son William, Tyler, Sanderson where she met and married Albert Word, El Paso, Ft Worth and finally settling in San Angelo in 1984 . Before retiring she was in the Antique, Flea Market and resale business. She was a very fierce, protective, loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and mother-in-law. The loss of Anni has left a huge hole in her family. Anni is preceded in death by her husband, Albert Word; a daughter, Deborah Cornevin; her mother Sophie Christmann; her father, Karl Christmann; and a sister, Henny Richthammer. Survivors include her son, William M. Batten and wife Michele of San Angelo; a grandson, Brandon Batten of San Angelo; a granddaughter, Nicole Cornevin of San Antonio; a sister, Anita Fisher of Austin; a nephew, Bobby Fisher and wife Donna both of Austin; and niece; Suzzanne Von Rohr and husband Rolf of Albuquerque, New Mexico. The family would like to thank the staff at Senior Care of Meadow Creek in San Angelo for their care these last few years. You guys are the best!
