Obituary of Angelina Daniels Angelina Daniels was born Angelina Azzaretto in Staten Island New York over 87 years ago to immigrant parents from Sicily She grew up in Staten Island with her brother Michael Azzaretto and her sister Mary An inquisitive child who grew into a beautiful young women. As a teenager she began losing her sight and was blind before the age of 20. This did not stop this strong courageous woman who worked for the City of New York for 20 years, taking the bus, ferry and the New York subway with her seeing eye dog and cane regularly to Manhattan. In addition to working and raising her family she was active in the blind community and was one of the Founders of the Staten Island Blind Society . She didn’t let her blindness stop her from doing what she wanted to do –never afraid to try things – even went parasailing in the Caribbean and tried horseback riding on the beach- that was a memorable sight ! Then of course there was that short but remarkable drive down Garrets Avenue – because she wanted to experience the feeling and power of a car ! Incredible right ? Her bravery and strength held her together when a mother goes thru the deepest pain possible: dealing with two of her sons, Howard and Michael, predeceasing her. Her brother Michael and sister Mary Lindemann predeceased her also. She was always willing to give of herself and will be truly missed by her family and all who knew her She is survived by her 3 children. Her sons, Kirby and Charles and daughter Angela as well as 8 grandchildren , 14 great grandchildren , and 4 great great grand children .
