James Wayne Chopel passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2024, in Mount Pleasant, TX. He was born July 31, 1950 in Pittsburg, TX to parents James Franklin and Ella Joy (Nash) Chopel. He attended Mount Pleasant schools, graduating in 1968. With his love of baseball, he played Little League and in high school; he was also in the Tiger Band. Graduating in 1972 from East Texas State University Commerce, he began coaching junior high football at Liberty-Eylau, TX. In 1978 he taught briefly at Winfield, TX …
