Little River, SC – Earl Gilmer Zirkle
Earl Gilmer Zirkle, a beloved husband, father, uncle and papaw, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2023, in Little River SC, following a 14-year battle with Alzheimer’s and recent congestive heart failure. Born in East Stone Gap, VA on June 9, 1938, he was the son of George McNeal Zirkle and Bonnie Jane Burton Zirkle.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Samuel Zirkle, sisters, Janice Willis and Brenda Givens.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years Lannis Sizemore Zirkle and his daughter Kimberly Jane Zirkle and many loved nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his beloved grandson, Gabriel Lewis Bryan and Scotty and Shelly Bryan.
Earl retired in 1986 from Dixie Container in Richmond VA. He was a deacon at Manchester Baptist Church, Richmond VA where he was saved and gave his life to Christ. He loved his church family at Manchester as well as Oak Forest Baptist Church in Chesterfield County VA, where he attended for 28 years. He was also blessed to make immediate friends at First Baptist Church of North Myrtle Beach, when he moved to Little River, SC in September 2022.
Earl loved to fish, coach softball, root for the Virginia Cavaliers, dancing at Quarles and Hardees with his friends and loving wife. He started losing his eyesight at a young age, but that did not stop him from enjoying life to the fullest. He loved the beach but his heart was always in the mountains. He was indeed blessed by the Lord and is now with his Savior in heaven in a new body that can see all his loved ones that went before him.
As we remember Earl, please give someone a smile, tell a joke and make sure to laugh as these were three things he liked to do for others.
