Mary Ann Parkhurst, 84, of Walsenburg, Colorado formerly of Burns Flat, Oklahoma was born on July 25, 1939 in Cheyenne, Oklahoma. She is the daughter of James Lawrence McCaskill and Sadie Sarah Walker. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 17, 2023 at her residence in Walsenburg, Colorado surrounded by her loving family.
She married the love of her life, Ivan Elroy Parkhurst Sr. on November 25, 1955 in Cheyenne, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on July 8, 2006. Mary worked for the Tom Thirft Grocery store in Burns Flat as the manager for over ten years. She then worked as a cook at the Burns Flat Grade Schools for fifteen to twenty years when she retired in 2004.
Mary enjoyed crocheting, word search puzzles, watching game shows and playing table games. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Burns Flat, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 25, 2026 at First Baptist Church, Cheyenne, Oklahoma. Rev. Trevor McClure will officiate. Interment will be at Silent Home Cemetery, Roll, Oklahoma. Services have been entrusted to the care of Richard and Tammy Dugger and the staff of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home in Elk City, Oklahoma.
Cherishing her memory is her son, Ivan Parkhurst Jr. and his wife Patricia of Newcastle, Oklahoma; one daughter, Barbara Ann Goodall and her husband Earl Brothers of Walsenburg, Colorado; one daughter-in-law, Sharon Parkhurst of Seymore, Tennessee; ten grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one brother-in-law, Paul Baker of Marlow, Oklahoma; one sister-in-law, Betty McCaskill of Gentry, Arkansas.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Ivan Elroy Parkhurst; one son, Donald Parkhurst; six brothers, Lawrence McCaskill, Gene McCaskill, Ralph McCaskill, John McCaskill, Jim McCaskill, and one infant; two sisters, Ruby Baker and Sadie Haney, one great-granchild Parker Beck.
