Obituary of Joyce Jones Williams
Joyce Jones Williams, 78 of Walkertown, unexpectedly gained her heavenly angel wings on Thursday, November 16th, 2023 at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem, NC.
A native of High Point, North Carolina, Joyce was the daughter of the late Lionel Jones and Ruth Hedgecock Jones.
Joyce, best known as “MawMaw” to everyone who knew her, was a woman of all trades. From her phenomenal cooking, her witty jokes and spunkiness. She was known for her tiny structure and her uninhibited personality. Joyce worked in the restaurant sevice industry for many years. To know Joyce, was to love her. She loved her family dearly and her fur babies, BB, Biscuit and Yeti. You wouldn’t catch Joyce without her fuzzy robe/jacket, a hot cup of black coffee and a 3 Musketeers candy bar. She was simply one of a kind and such a sweetheart.
She is survived by two sons, Joseph Hodges (Donna) of Yanceyville, and Rodney Hodges (Gina) of High Point; two daughters, Kimberly Trivette of Wallburg, and Cindy Gordon of Walkertown; sisters, Brenda Glisson of Jamestown, Gloria Wall (Lawrence) of Kernersville, and Jean Coley (Tom) of Greensboro; grandchildren, Brandon Hodges (Amanda), Christopher Hodges (Destiny), Victoria Lovelace (Brian), Brianna Hopkins (Joshua), Brittany Garner (Edward), Matthew Hodges, Tyler Hodges (Haleigh), James Trivette, Casey Trivette, Dalton Gordon, Hailey Gordon (Cullen), Chase Gordon (Payton), and Brandon Gordon (Alivia); and numerous great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Williams; brothers, Donald Jones, and Wayne Jones; and sisters, Wilma Ryman, Billie Wheeler, and Sharon Beasley.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM on Tuesday, November 21st, 2023 at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Services Kernersville Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina, 3300 Shorefair Dr. NW, Winston-Salem, NC 27105.
