Raymond E. Schenck, beloved husband, son, brother, brother-in-law, father, Poppie, Great Poppie, Pastor and friend passed away peacefully on October 25, 2023. He was born on May 4, 1950, in Sommerville, New Jersey. Raymond found joy and companionship with his beloved spouse, of 51 years, Gail “Diane” Schenck. He leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories and a network of close family and friends.
Loving father to Josalyn (Darryl) Williams. Poppie to four cherished grandchildren Matthew, Mya, Christian and Caleb. Great-Poppie to Toni-Marie. He was beloved brother to Robert “Bob” Schenck, Myrtis “Mitzi” Finger, Johnny Schenck, Keith Schenck and Sydney Schenck. He was a devoted uncle to his many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Stewart and Myrtis Schenck. Also predeceasing him are his brothers Stewart and Gerald Schenck; sisters Beverly Johnson and Corrine Smith.
Raymond received a bachelor’s degree in business from Rider University in Lawrenceville, NJ. Upon graduating he had a successful career as a salesman at VHB Refrigeration, Westbury NY for over 43 years. Raymond was a well loved Pastor at Upper Room Christian World Center in Dix Hills, NY for over 30 years. He had an innate ability to make those around him feel valued and loved. The impact he made on the lives of those who knew him is immeasurable. We find peace in knowing that he lived a life filled with love and purpose.
A memorial service will be held in honor of Raymond on Wednesday, November 1st, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 7:00PM at Upper Room Christian World Center located at 722 Deer Park Avenue, Dix Hills NY. Let us gather to celebrate the life of Raymond and honor the profound impact he had on our lives. May his memory serve as a reminder to live each day with kindness, generosity, and a passion for learning—a fitting tribute to a remarkable soul.
