Deborah (Weinz) Olsson, a devoted grandmother, businesswoman and free spirit, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2023, at the age of 73.
Born on December 6, 1949 in Manhattan, NY, to Charles Weinz and Anne (Murray) Weinz, Deborah was one of three sisters. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Yonkers, NY before embarking on a career as a hairstylist. An entrepreneur at heart, she opened and managed Waves Ltd. hair salon in Pleasantville, NY for more than a decade, before selling the salon to relocate to the Albany, New York area.
Deborah met her husband, Alan Olsson, in 1976 in Westchester, NY. They went on to have a son, Jonathan Olsson, who now lives in Boston, Massachusetts with his wife, Meghan, and three children, Noah, Riley and Asher.
In retirement, Deborah loved spending time with Jonathan, Meghan and the kids. During holidays and lazy summer and fall days at the family lake house, she spent countless hours playing board games, swimming and cooking s’mores by campfire with her grandchildren.
Throughout her life Deborah was a free spirit, someone who brought the sparkle of life to those around her.
In addition to Jonathan, Meghan and her grandchildren, she is survived by her sisters, Charann Weinz and Bonnie Clark, and partner David Hall.
