Sally Ann Sewald, a woman defined by her faith, tenacity, and an abundance of love, passed away on October 18, 2023, in her hometown of Bourbon, Missouri. Born in Washington, Missouri, on January 8, 1955, Sally was a shining beacon of optimism who lived her life with grace, elegance, and a sense of purpose that was truly inspiring.
Sally’s educational journey was as diverse as it was impressive. She held a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from Le Tourneau University in Dallas, Texas. Her love for music led her to Princeton University, where she studied to become a professional concert pianist and opera singer. She also attended the Saint Louis Institute of Music Preparatory School, cementing her foundation in the world of music.
Sally’s career was marked by her unwavering dedication and exceptional talent. As a paralegal, she was instrumental in the success of major law firms such as K&L Gates and the real estate company, Trammell Crow Companies, Inc, both in Dallas, Texas. She was also associated with HireRight, formerly known as General Information Services, Inc. Her work involved handling large commercial and residential real estate transactions and identifying business growth opportunities. After retiring in 2013, she returned to Bourbon, Missouri, where she spent her days with her beloved pups, Bella, Charm, and Gracie.
Sally’s musical talent took her to the world’s most prestigious stages. She performed at Carnegie Hall in New York, Royal Albert Hall in London, England, and the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France. She represented the United States at the International Society of Music Educators in Montreux, Switzerland, and Innsbruck, Austria. Her performances at St. Mark’s Basilica Dei Frai in Venice, Italy, St. Paul’s Cathedral, The Vatican, and the Sistine Chapel in Rome, Italy, were testimonies to her incredible talent and dedication.
Sally’s faith was a significant part of her life. She found joy in attending church and looked forward to worshiping with her Ridge Church family every Sunday. She was fiercely independent, a trait that resonated in every aspect of her life. She loved spending time with her nieces and nephews, and her home was always filled with laughter and love during their visits.
Sally had a penchant for the simple pleasures in life. She loved flowers of all kinds and enjoyed a good cup of coffee, often adding a dash of Bailey’s for that extra warmth. Her resilience was admirable, always overcoming life’s challenges and proving physicians wrong time and time again. Sally loved people as Jesus did, always making those around her feel special and seen. She often greeted people with a heartfelt “Sweetheart,” showcasing her unwavering warmth and kindness.
Sally Ann Sewald was a woman of sophistication, class, and elegance. Her unwavering faith, love for others, and optimistic spirit made her a beacon of light in the lives of everyone she touched. She lived her life with grace, proving that even in the face of adversity, one can remain positive and hopeful. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those she loved and those who loved her.
She is survived by her four loving siblings: Stephen Sewald and wife Denise of Sullivan, Missouri, Michael Sewald and companion, Carol Deason of Robertsville, Missouri, Tim Sewald and wife Sonya of Bourbon, Missouri, and Mary Beth Sewald and husband Aleksandar Simic of Las Vegas, Nevada; nieces and nephew: Danielle Walker, Carolina Sewald, Sarah Sewald, Eric Sewald, Maegan Bowersox and husband Josh, Amanda Denson – Butterfield and husband Michael and Jessica Lane and husband Michael; great nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Delma Sewald; a brother in infancy, Danny Sewald; a half-brother, Edward Sewald Jr.; and her beloved pups, Bella, Charm and Gracie.
A Remembrance Memorial Service will be held Saturday, December 9, 2023 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, MO with Pastor Matt Dudley officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Bethel Cemetery in Saint Clair.
Visitation will be 10 – 12 PM, Saturday, December 9, 2023 at the Eaton Funeral Home prior to the memorial service.
