Obituary
John C. Johnston, 83, of St. Joseph, passed away November 14, 2023. John was born December 19, 1939, in Kansas City, MO.
He was a 1958 graduate of Benton High School and attended Northwest Missouri State University. He graduated from Missouri Western State University with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Administration. Prior to retirement he worked as a CPA for Del Wood CPA in St. Joseph.
He served in the Missouri Air Guard for six years and was a former salon owner of The Ritz. He was a Life Master of Bridge, and loved playing bridge at the senior center, and was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan.
John married Judy Graham in Las Vegas, NV on February 11, 1978, and she survives. Also surviving are a daughter Katie Imlay (John); two step-sons Scott Holcomb, Shawn Holcomb (Elizabeth); eleven grandchildren; sister Sylvia Marquardt; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son John Sullivan Johnston; brother Patrick Johnston; and sister Sandra Grant.
The family would like to express their gratitude to John’s Bridge friends at the Senior Center and to his longtime best friends Edson and Phyllis Marsh.
