Donald J. “Homer” Martin Obituary
Donald J. “Homer” Martin, age 73 of Denmark Township, died suddenly but peacefully at home on Tuesday afternoon, December 5, 2023.
Donald Joseph Martin was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, on March 11, 1950. Homer grew up on the Schuster Family Farm in Afton where he gained a loving, life-long family. Following his graduation from Park High School with the class of 1969, Homer became the longtime custodian at Park and also throughout School District 833 until his retirement in 2005. Outside of working, he enjoyed being a farmer with the Schuster’s as well. Above all, Homer will be remembered for being an extremely gentle soul that was always willing to help others.
He is survived by his brother, LeRoy Olson; his cat and best friend, Spunky; and by the extended Schuster Family.
A Celebration of Homer’s Life will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings. Private family interment will be held at Cottage Grove Cemetery in Old Cottage Grove.
In lieu of flowers, Homer’s family asks that you kindly support St. Jude’s, an organization that he was so passionate about over the years.
Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
